Pewsey Go Top with win at Shrewton
The story of Tuesday night’s action in the Premier Division was one of comebacks. Three of the sides involved in the night’s action started the night unbeaten and after the dust had settled two maintained that unbeaten tag.
The other game on Tuesday night was at the Gerard Buxton Ground where Malmesbury Victoria Development
were Royal Wootton Bassett Town Development’s visitors. Royal Wootton Bassett had won their opening two fixtures whilst Malmesbury had beaten Melksham Town Reserves but had lost narrowly at Frome on Saturday. Bailey Gallagher opened the scoring with his second of the season for the home side and veteran Jonathan Davis then extended the lead from the penalty spot to make it 2-0. With less than five minutes remaining it looked like it would be three from three for the home side, but Malmesbury Vics Development staged a comeback with two goals in those final minutes. Firstly, Connor Laidlaw notched his second of the season to give Malmesbury hope of salvaging something from the game and then Jake Fortune headed in an equaliser in the final minute of normal time to make it 2-2 and the points were shared. For Royal Wootton Bassett Town Development their unbeaten start to the season now stands at three games and they are second in the early league table ahead of Saturday’s trip to Devizes Town Reserves. The point for Malmesbury lifted them into fifth spot in the table ahead of Saturday’s home game with Corsham Town Reserves.

Wednesday night saw Corsham Town Reserves
travel to the Lew Hill Memorial Ground for their first ever league encounter with Odd Down Reserves. It was an entertaining game with the young Odd Down side and the experienced Corsham Town Reserves side serving up six goals between them. James Noad, who had got off the mark in Saturday’s defeat to Pewsey, scored two more for Odd Down with Conor Westerside adding a third. For Corsham Town Reserves there was also two goals for Jamal Chevelleau, Jack Brain with the other Corsham goal as it finished 3-3 and the points were shared. The point lifted Odd Down into sixth place in the table whilst Corsham moved up to 12th place. Next up for Odd Down is a tough looking trip to Wroughton whilst Corsham, as noted above, will visit Malmesbury Victoria Development.
