Calne Town Close In
On Top Two In U18s

The impact of the half-term school holidays meant that just the one Under 18 Floodlight Division fixture went ahead this week, that being the game at Calne Town where Melksham Town were the visitors. Calne went into the game on the back of an impressive run that had seen them win their previous three games, with their only defeat so far this season being a narrow 2-1 loss away at league leaders Kintbury Rangers.

In a tight first half the two sides turned round with the game still looking for its first goal but three quickfire goals in the first eight minutes of the second half saw Calne continue that excellent run of results. Jacob Pritchard opened the scoring three minutes after the restart and Joseph Redman then doubled the lead a minute later. Calne effectively put the game beyond Melksham when Pritchard scored his second of the game on 53 minutes to make it 3-0. There was to be no further goals as Calne’s defence ensured a second consecutive cleansheet. Whilst the win did not result in any change in league position for Calne it saw them move to within a point of second placed Royal Wootton Bassett Town and two points of leaders Kintbury Rangers in what is shaping up to be another very competitive Under 18 Division this season.
