Radstock Take Points Off Kintbury
As Unbeaten Run Continues

Radstock Town U18s who drew 2-2 with Kintbury Rangers

The snow in midweek coupled with AFC Aldermaston being the latest team unable to raise a side for a Friday night fixture at Bishops Cannings meant just the one game went ahead this week in the Under 18 Floodlight Division of the Corsham Print Wiltshire Senior League.

The game that did get played could have a big bearing on the title race as it involved Kintbury Rangers who were home to Radstock Town. At the start of the night Kintbury had the destiny of the title in their own hands, win all their games and they would be champions. However, Radstock themselves were in their best form of the season having won four straight games ahead of Monday’s visit. It looked like Kintbury would start their final five league games with a win to go top of the table as they led 2-1 with five minutes to go thanks to goals from Ashley Howes, with his eighth of the season, and Jon Canolli, Jack Farion having scored for Radstock. They were denied that victory though as Shaniel Mwaura got on the end of a cross at the far post to head Radstock level to extend Radstock’s unbeaten run and deny Kintbury the three points. The draw was still enough to enable Kintbury to move joint top of the table with Royal Wootton Bassett Town, with both sides still having four games to play. With FA rules not allowing goal difference to be applied in Under 18 competitions if the top two win all four of their remaining games, then a play-off would be needed. Royal Wootton Bassett Town still have Radstock Town to play twice in their remaining four fixtures so Radstock could well have a further big say in the title race before the end of the season.
