Corsham Print
Wiltshire Senior League
Former League Chairman & President
Dennis Kilford

All at the Corsham Print Wiltshire Senior League were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Honorary Life Member Dennis Kilford on New Year’s Eve after a short illness. Dennis had been with the Wiltshire Senior League since its inception in 1976, becoming Vice Chairman in 1983 before being elected as Chairman in 1991. He became League President in 2006, a position he held for 10 years, before standing down in 2016. Whilst he no longer held a position on the committee, he remained actively involved in league matters and continued to attend committee meetings right up until the last meeting in November.

Prior to the formation of what is now the Corsham Print Wiltshire Senior League, Dennis had been Assistant Secretary of the old Wiltshire Football League, a position he took on in 1974.  Prior to his roles with the leagues in the county, Dennis played for the very successful Swindon Victoria side before becoming a referee.

Dennis was also a member of the Wiltshire Football Association having been appointed to the Association in 1979 and had been made a Life Vice-President of the Association. In 2005 he received a Football Association 50 Year Service Award for his services to football in Wiltshire over the years, as a referee, league officer and FA official. Dennis’ experience, knowledge and advice will be sorely missed by the football community in Wiltshire and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time.

Dennis’ funeral has been arranged for Wednesday 17th January, 10:30am at Kingsdown Crematorium.

As a mark of respect the League will be asking all clubs to observe a minute’s silence in memory of Dennis before all games set to place during week commencing January 8th, which will include the Premier and Division One fixtures scheduled to take place on Saturday 13th January.
