Just One Game in U18 Division
as FC Chippenham Defeat Calne

It is not even the School Easter Holidays yet, but it was a bad week for fixtures in the Under 18 Floodlight Division of the Corsham Print Wiltshire Senior League with just the one game played with both Melksham Town and Kingsdown calling off their games due to being unable to raise a side. With limited free dates available outside of the school holidays it is looking likely that the season will need to extend beyond the scheduled final date for games of 3rd May. The division is the least completed of the five divisions across the League with just under 64% of the league games completed so far.

The one game that was played was at Calne Town where goals from Thomas Collings and Darcy Garner gave FC Chippenham a 2-0 away win as they moved to within three points of their beaten opponents.

This coming week sees Royal Wootton Bassett Town, having the advantage of using a 3G pitch,  complete their league fixtures. FC Chippenham and Wims, who also play on 3G, are not far behind whilst some of those who play on grass still have half their league games still to play. Also this coming week the second League Cup semi-final between Bristol Manor Farm and Kintbury Rangers, the two main challengers for the title, is set to take place this Monday in Bristol. This is the second attempt to stage this game and if it were to be postponed again it would then switch to being a home tie for Kintbury under the cup rules. Hopefully the game will go ahead as the fixture schedule is already congested in the final month and a half due to all the postponements.

This week’s fixtures in the U18s Division will be overshadowed by the sad news of the passing of Colin Nunn on Friday. Colin joined the league in 2020 as Referee Appointments Secretary for both our Under 18 and Veterans’ Divisions and will have dealt with all of our U18 sides. He had been battling illness for just over a year and only resigned from the Referee Appointments role at the end of January when his illness took its toll. Colin will be sorely missed by all on the Corsham Print Wiltshire Senior League and all our thoughts are with his family and his many friends at this sad time. As a mark of respect, we ask all our U18 teams to observe a minute’s silence prior to all our fixtures during week commencing 25th March.
