Josh Moore who scored another hat-trick in Amesbury's 3-2 win over Larkhall Athletic Dev

Premier Division

It was another busy week of midweek action in the Premier Division of the Corsham Print Wiltshire Senior League with four games on Tuesday night and another two the following evening. After the six games had been completed it is as you were at the top of the table with both Amesbury Town and Kintbury picking up midweek wins.

On Tuesday night Kintbury Rangers entertained Trowbridge Town at the Recreation Ground. After a goalless first half, the game came to life in the second half and a double from George Armstrong and one from Kye Williams for Kintbury saw them secure a 3-1 win, Jake Samuel with the consolation goal for Trowbridge who have now suffered back-to-back defeats after starting 2024 undefeated until the two losses this week. The win saw the gap to Amesbury at the top reduced to five points.

The following night Amesbury Town were back in action with a tricky looking fixture at home to Larkhall Athletic Development.  Josh Morre put Amesbury ahead midway through the first half with a chip over the keeper after good work from Harry Lawton. Amesbury doubled their lead just before the hour mark, great work by Ben Morris down the right, saw him cross to the back post where Harry Beckley set up Moore for his second of the game. Three minutes later Moore had his hat-trick and his 34th goal of the season, Lawton once again with an assist. The three-goal advantage did not last long though as Larkhall reduced the deficit three minutes later. It remained 3-1 until deep into injury time when Larkhall scored a second to make the final score 3-2 to the leaders, Andreas Smolka and substitute Angus Williamson with the Larkhall goals. The win for Larkhall restored their eight-point lead at the top of the table, although Kintbury still have two games in hand.

Pewsey Vale left it late in their game away to Salisbury Development. A goal deep into injury time from Jude Cawley was enough to give Craig Kent’s side all three points ahead of his return to former club Melksham Town Reserves on Saturday. Cruel on Salisbury who know they will now finish in the bottom two and will be hoping that there may be a reprieve from relegation come the end of the season, which will depend on if more than one team are promoted at the end of the season.

There was an entertaining game at Melksham on Tuesday night with the home side Melksham Town Reserves and bottom side Ludgershall Sports sharing seven goals. The three points went the way of Melksham following a 4-3 win, two goals for Josh Bright and one apiece for Tom Dowell and Sam Whitehead, Aaron Joseph (2) and Jack Stacey with the Ludgershall goals.

Blunsdon made it five games unbeaten with a 3-1 win in the local derby with Kingsdown on Tuesday night on the 3G at Kingsdown School. Two more goals for Nick Craft saw him move into double figures for the season, John O’Donoghue with the other Blunsdon goal, Ollie While netting his eighth of the season in reply for Kingsdown.

The final game of the week was on Wednesday night, and it saw Calne Town Reserves end a run of five games with out a win when they returned from Malmesbury Vics Development with all three points following a 3-1 win. Star of the show for Calne was Sean Bailey who helped himself to a hat-trick, Matthew Jones with the Malmesbury goal.

Division One

There were two midweek games played in Division One this week and both resulted in 3-0 home wins. At the Red house, Purton and Cricklade Town met in the “B4553 derby”. When the two sides had met at the start of the season Purton had run out 2-1 winners, but it was a somewhat more comfortable win in the return match as goals from Gio Wrona, Devan Bryan and Chris Jackson secured the 3-0 win that saw Purton move up to third place in the table.

The other match played was at Bratton with Lambourn Sports the visitors. Bratton went in front on 19 minutes, a goal kick from Ryan Stevens found Drew Adams who flicked the ball on to Jack Booth who fired into the bottom corner for 1-0. They doubled that lead on the half hour mark, a shot from Joe Moloney was flicked on by Ben Thompson and found its way into the back of the net for 2-0 to Bratton. Bratton made sure of all three points just before the hour mark, Max Bishop setting up Louis Wilkins for a third goal for Bratton. Bratton stay sixth but moved to within a point of fifth placed Devizes Town Reserves with two games in hand.
