With the season drawing to a close there were just two games played in both the Ladies Premier Division and Ladies Development Division and the matches played saw honours confirmed in both divisions.

Premier Division

In the Premier Division Bemerton Heath Harlequins, who have led the division all season, were confirmed as champions on Sunday after they secured a 3-0 away win against Kingsdown in Swindon. Two goals from substitute Rachel Adkin and one from Ellie Hayward inflicted the damage on the home side and the three points gained meant Bemerton could no longer be caught.

The other game played in the Premier Division saw AFC Brislington move second in the table thanks to a 4-1 away win at Melksham Town. On target for AFC Brislington were Charlotte Morrison, who bagged a brace, with further goals from leading scorer Rhiannon Ben-Carew and Clarice White, Ella King with the Melksham Town reply. AFC Brislington are now one point ahead of Highworth Town ahead of the showdown between the two sides for runners-up spot this coming Sunday at Highworth. Highworth need to win to claim that second spot whilst for AFC Brislington a draw would be sufficient to give them runners-up. Ironically AFC Brislington, given their superior goal difference, would almost have certainly had that second place wrapped up already if they hadn’t called off their game against Bemerton Heath Harlequins and suffered a two-point deduction. Development Division

There were also two games in the Development Division. Champions Marlborough Town were set to be presented with the league trophy at the conclusion of their game against South Newton & Barford Hornets. Before that though Marlborough were looking to maintain their unbeaten record in league fixtures in their 16th and final game of the season. When the two sides had met earlier in the month Marlborough had won 2-0 and Sunday saw them complete a league double and also achieve that unbeaten record across the whole league season with a 3-0 win. Leading scorer Sienna Lewis bagged another two goals to take her tally for the season to 19 with Elyssia O’Keeffe getting the other Marlborough Town goal. After the conclusion of the match Marlborough Town were presented with the winner’s trophy and individual medals by League Chairman Brian Busson. The defeat for South Newton & Barford coupled with a Trowbridge Wanderers win away at Blusdon ended their challenge for runners-up spot. Brian Busson had his camera with him at the Marlborough Town v South Newton & Barford Hornets game and more of his pictures can be found on the League Facebook Group Page.

Trowbridge Wanderers made sure of that runners-up spot, irrespective of South Newton & Barford’s result with a 3-0 away win at Blunsdon. Leading 1-0 at half time thanks to a Megan Keast goal they added two more after the break through Jamie-Lee Curtis and an own goal to make sure of three points as they finished four points behind Marlborough but six points ahead of Salisbury who remain in third spot ahead of the outcome of the final outcome of the abandoned game between Blunsdon and South Newton & Barford Hornets which is subject to an FA hearing on Thursday. Should the FA confirm the decision of the Discipline Committee to restage the game, it is scheduled for Sunday and the league will expect the game to be played.
