Premier Division
With league leaders Swindon Supermarine Dev without a game, Melksham Town Reserves had the chance to move top of the table if they could return with all three points from the Weir Field by defeating Wroughton on Saturday. However, Wroughton went into the game in good form having won back-to-back fixtures and they were to frustrate Justin Flower’s Melksham side as the two sides fought out a 1-1 draw. Nick Taylor with his fourth of the season for Melksham Town Reserves and Alex Hammond with the Wroughton goal. The failure to win saw Melksham drop one place in the table with Larkhall Athletic Development moving above them on goal difference.
Larkhall Athletic Development moved up to that second spot in the table courtesy of an impressive 5-1 away win at Shrivenham. Larkhall started strongly and took an early lead through James Okell, his shot across goal taking a deflection before nestling in the top corner of the net. Larkhall did not let up in their intensity and Okell doubled their lead shortly after, a sweeping move allowed Arlo Stone to execute a perfect back heel in the path of Okell to fire home for his second of the game. Larkhall increased their lead ten minutes before the break when James Payton headed home from a corner. Shrivenham were given a lifeline just before the break when Larkhall were caught overplaying at the back allowing James Hirst to score, although 16-year-old Dominic Cook made a fine initial save but the ball ricocheted into the net to make it 3-1 at the break. Larkhall started the second half as they had the first and extended their lead within five minutes of the restart, Okell sending in a perfect cross form the right wing which was headed home by Ben Wickens for 4-1. The game was over as a contest on the hour mark when Okell hit a powerful strike from the edge of the box to complete his hat trick and make the final score 5-1 to Larkhall who moved to within two points of leaders Swindon Supermarine but having played one game more.
Faringdon Town remain in fourth spot in the table after they maintained their unbeaten start to the season, winning 2-1 away at Purton Kingsdown. Prior to the game it was noted in the Purton Kingsdown programme that manager Adrian Wilkinson had stepped down but would remain involved with the club, with Louis O’Shea taking over as first team manager at the club. Faringdon dominated the first half on Saturday on a difficult dusty pitch at the Red House, going in front on 15 minutes. The Purton Kingsdown defence failed to clear a long throw into the box, the ball falling to Adam Sly who fired home to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. Faringdon doubled their lead just after the half hour mark, Purton Kingsdown conceded possession in their own half allowing Kyle Bowyer to outpace the defence before rounding the outrushing Eddie Salsbury in the Purton Kingsdown goal to stroke the ball into the empty net for 2-0. It remained that way at the break with Faringdon Town very much on top. Despite Faringdon Town having chances to finish the game off, it was to remain 2-0 right until the very end of the second half, Purton Kingsdown grabbing a late consolation goal through Finn Broadbank to make the final score 2-1. After going the whole of last season without an away win, Faringdon have now won two out of three on the road this season and are also one of just two unbeaten sides remaining in the division this season, the other being leaders Swindon Supermarine Dev who Faringdon meet a week on Tuesday at Tucker Park. Pictures from this game will appear on the League Facebook Group page in due course.

Shrewton United and Letcombe met at Shrewton Recreation Ground in what looked to be the top match of the day ahead of the weekend. In the end it turned out to be a one-sided affair as the home side Shrewton inflicted Letcombe’s heaviest defeat since they joined the Corsham Print Wiltshire Senior League. Star of the show in the emphatic 6-1 win was Kian Tydeman who scored four of the Shrewton goals. Few would have predicted such a big score as the teams turned around with just one goal in it at the break, the initial goal coming just a minute before half time, Tydeman capitalising on a poor clearance to fire his side ahead. Shrewton doubled their lead six minutes into the second half, Tydeman getting on the end of a Lewis Elshaw cross to make it 2-0. Letcombe’s cause was not helped by then having Dan Trimbell sent off. Shrewton took full advantage of the extra man with Tydeman completing his hat-trick just after the hour mark after good work from Sanjay Samuda. Shrewton then went further ahead on 68 minutes, Tydeman setting up Lewis Cross whose effort on goal came back off the bar with the ball falling to Thomas Plank who made no mistake to put Shrewton 4-0 up. Letcombe quickly responded to reduce the deficit back down to three, Jordan Davies with his fourth goal of the season. There was to be no comeback though as within three minutes Shrewton had restored their four-goal advantage, Elshaw setting up Tydeman for the second time in the game to give Tydeman his fourth of the game and his tenth of the season that sees him as the early leader of the division’s goal scoring chart. There was still time for one more goal, Shrewton’s Eddie Perrott chipping Letcombe keeper Danny Joyce to make the final score 6-1 to Shrewton United.
After their opening day defeat at the hands of league leaders Swindon Supermarine, Pewsey Vale have gone unbeaten in five games, securing a narrow 2-1 home win over Down Ampney thanks to goals from James Guthrie and Brandon-Lee Vincent, George Bailey with the Down Ampney goal. The win for Pewsey saw them climb five places in the table to sixth place.

There were plenty of goals in the game at the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground where Royal Wootton Bassett Town Development entertained near neighbours Calne Town Reserves. Toby Parker gave the home side a 1-0 lead, but Calne equalised on the stroke of half time, Ousman Joof lobbing home keeper Adam House from distance to level matters up going into the break. The visitors went in front for the first time in the game when the Royal Wootton Bassett defence gave the ball away on the edge of their own box and Kieron Kiff capitalised to put Calne ahead with his third goal of the season. It got even better for Calne when they were awarded a penalty shortly afterwards after a foul inside the box. Hartley Newson took responsibility for the penalty and fired home to give Calne Town Res a 3-1 lead. There was to be a dramatic end to an entertaining encounter though, with the home side themselves being awarded a penalty for another trip inside the box. Sam Case duly dispatched the spot kick to give his side hope of getting something out of the game. Calne’s Newson then continued to dispute the award of the penalty and was to receive a yellow card followed by a red for continuing to argue the penalty award, leaving his side to play out the closing stages of the game one man short. The home side sensed a real chance to get something out of the game and laid siege to the Calne goal, winning several corners from efforts that went close. It was from one such corner that George Lance headed home an equaliser for Royal Wootton Bassett. The home side then went close to securing all three points, Prince Nyongolo setting up substitute Okafor Ugonna on the edge of the box with a clear sight of goal, but he fired over to the relief of the Calne defence as it finished 3-3, with the two sides having to settle for a point apiece. Pictures from this game will also appear on the League Facebook Group page in due course.
Action from the 3-3 draw between RWBT Dev and Calne Town Reserves, including the late equaliser from George Lance with a header from a corner
There were also plenty of goals at Cricklade Leisure Centre, as there has been all season, with the five games played at Cricklade this season averaging just under seven goals per game. For the second time this season Cricklade Town were on the wrong end of a 4-3 result at the Leisure Centre as they fell to defeat at the hands of Devizes Town Reserves. Two goals from Jordan Anning plus one from both Finley Palmer and Oliver Norman giving Devizes their second win of the season. On target for the home side were Lewis Bexon-Shaw, who added two more to his total to move his total onto nine for the season, and Danny Hale.
Another side picking up their second victory of the season were Bemerton Heath Harlequins Reserves who scored three unanswered goals at home against Park United. On target for Bemerton were Hugo Rawlings, Morgan Harvey and a fourth of the season from Harry Guy. The win for Bemerton saw them climb out of the bottom four.
Division One
There are new leaders in Division One as Fairford Town Reserves recorded an impressive 6-0 away win over the previous leaders Bradford Town Reserves to move above their beaten opponents into top spot. Star of the show was Patrick Otoo-Mensah who helped himself to a hat-trick with further goals from Steven Hall, Miles Arnold and Rhys Bevan. The win for Fairford saw them move a point clear at the top of the table with a game in hand over the four sides immediately below them in the table. The defeat saw Bradford Town Reserves slip down to third place in the table.
Fairford were not the biggest winners of the day in the division though as Kintbury Rangers Reserves put eight goals past Westbury United Reserves without reply. Charlie Allsop scored four of the Kintbury goals to take his total for the season onto seven, with the other goals coming through Daniel Wyles, Paul Hirst, Aiden Maycock and Ryan Hutchings. A tough start for Westbury who have now lost all three of the games they have played so far but hopefully their issues with raising a side at the start of the season are now behind them. The win for Kintbury saw them move up to fifth place in the table.
Purton Kingsdown Reserves are up to second place in the table after they secured a 2-0 home win over Lambourn Sports at Kingsdown School thanks to an own goal and one from Nicholas Wilkes. Lambourn are yet to register a point in five games but have gone close in three of their fixtures and that first point can’t be too far away from being secured.
Malmesbury Victoria Development are up to fourth spot after winning their third game of the season. Their latest victory came away against Redhouse in the late kick-off on the 3G at Moredon. Two goals for Will Goodey plus one apiece for Charlie Evatt and Cameron Robinson for Malmesbury, the two goals in reply for Redhouse came from the usual source, Cameron Shrubb adding two more to his total to extend his lead at the top of the goal scoring chart with his twelfth goal of the campaign.
Marlborough Town are up to sixth place as they registered their third win of the season in four games, their latest success a 4-2 home win over Bishops Cannings, Oliver Barnes and Kory Wildman with the Bishops Cannings goals as their three-game winning run came to an end. Bishops Cannings have won all three home games on their 3G pitch, but they have then lost all three of their away games on grass. They will no doubt be pleased that their next three games are all set to be on artificial surfaces. Marlborough are back in action in midweek when they travel to league leaders Fairford Town Reserves.
The action in the division had got underway on Friday night at Faringdon where Faringdon Town Development entertained Pewsey Vale Development at Tucker Park in a game that saw both sides secure leads at various points in the game. Pewsey went ahead early on only for Corey Cullen to bring Faringdon back level. Josh Lewis then put the home side in front, but Pewsey got themselves back on level terms by the break. The game then swung Pewsey’s way again as they went in front for the second time in the match, but Gergo Komjati equalised for Faringdon 15 minutes from time. The home side then went close to a winner when they hit the post but ended the game one man short after Tyler Fitchett was given his marching orders for a second yellow card. The three scorers for Pewsey Vale were Matty Jones, Leo Somenti-Browner and Oscar Wall.
The game between Stratton and Great Western unfortunately was abandoned following a serious injury to the Stratton keeper Jayden Nash. We understand that, following a hospital visit, the injury is not as bad as first feared and all at the Corsham Print Wiltshire Senior League wish him a speedy recovery.
