Ladies Premier Division
There were just three games played in the Ladies Premier Division of the Corsham Print Wiltshire Senior League last week as a result of Trowbridge Wanderers withdrawing from the league and the scheduled game between Highworth Town and Barford Hornets being postponed with Barford Hornets unable to raise a side.
The three games that went ahead saw league leaders Marlborough Town drop their first points of the season as they fell to a 4-0 defeat on the 3G at Moredon against FC Abbey Meads. Chloe Neate put FC Abbey Meads ahead on 21 minutes and Amelia Fowles then doubled FC Abbey Meads lead three minutes later. A third from Hayley Huckin nine minutes before the break put FC Abbey Meads in command by half time. An improved second half showing from Marlbough saw the game remain at 3-0 until 20 minutes from time when Claire Moreton added a fourth for FC Abbey Meads to round off a good afternoon for the Swindon based side as it finished 4-0. With the league table having now been adjusted for the withdrawal of Trowbridge Wanderers, Marlborough Town still have a five-point lead at the top of the table despite the defeat and FC Abbey Meads sit in fourth place, six points behind Marlborough but with two games in hand.
Melksham Town moved up into second spot after a 3-1 away win at Calne Town. A goal from Andrea Chludilova saw Melksham lead 1-0 at the break but second half goals from Nicholle Duncan and Eva Allison confirmed the Melksham victory, with Megan Hamill getting one in reply for Calne Town. Barbara and Alan Swan were at the game with their cameras and more of their excellent pictures can be found on the League Facebook Group page.
Keynsham Town "A" sit third in the table for now after a 3-0 home win over Purton Kingsdown despite ending the game with just ten players. First half goals from Kerry Bartlett and Gracie Reed saw Keynsham in a comfortable position at the break. However, ten minutes into the second half Mandy Hennessy was sent off leaving Keynsham to play the rest of the half with one player short. Despite the numerical disadvantage they added a third, Bartlett scoring her second of the game to make sure of the three points.
Division One
There was a full schedule of five games played in Division One and once again it saw the two unbeaten sides maintain their perfect records. Two goals from Nicole Webster and one from Katie Sell saw Salisbury defeat Staverton Rangers 3-0 to remain three points clear at the top of the table.
The other unbeaten side FC Chippenham climbed up to second spot with a hard fought 4-2 away win at Malmesbury Vics in a game switched to the Red Bull ground as a result of the previous days heavy rain during the men’s game at the Flying Monk. Two more goals for Lily Ayhan for FC Chippenham saw her take her total for the season to nine in all competitions, with the other two FC Chippenham goals coming through Charlotte Cook and Mary Murphy, Alice Allman and Laura Deacon with the two Malmesbury Vics goals.
Blunsdon were the biggest winners of the afternoon scoring ten times in a 10-3 away win at Purton Kingsdown Reserves. The division’s leading scorer Lyndsey Plant scored four of the Blunsdon goals to take her tally for the season to 15, Laura Gammon and Jody Nicholls both scored twice with Kirsty Gossage and an own goal completing the scoring for Blunsdon. In reply for Purton Kingsdown Reserves there were goals for Amy Goodchild, Hayley Shipp and a sixth of the season from Lorna Newton.
Improving Marlborough Town Reserves made it three wins in a row with a 3-0 home success over Ferndale Rodbourne thanks to two goals from Victoria Goldson and one from Kate Arekion.
The final game of the afternoon in the division saw Stratton pick up their second win of the season, two goals from Katrina Reynolds and one apiece for Sophie Smyth and Chloe Brown securing a 4-0 win over Durrington.
