The weather played havoc with the U18 Floodlight Division last week with four league fixtures ending up being postponed and also a County Cup game. The County Cup game involved Radstock Town was then re-arranged for this coming Thursday, dislodging yet another league fixture even though the correspondence from the Somerset FA indicates that this is supposed to be a Sunday cup competition. The matter is currently under review by the league with the Wiltshire FA who have oversight of our U18 Floodlight Division.
The two games that were played both involved one of the top two teams in the division but saw two very contrasting games. On a cold Monday night on the 3G pitch at Green Lane a solitary goal from Ruben Allaway, his third of the campaign, saw Calne Town defeat Bishops Cannings to move temporarily above Swindon Supermarine into top spot.
However, on Thursday night Swindon Supermarine moved back top of the table with an emphatic 15-0 win over Trowbridge Town. The division’s leading scorer Alfie Telling added four more goals to his tally taking his total for the season to 25, Mauricio Perciavalle scored twice with Xavier Beczek, Isaac Chalk, Liam Clark, Peter Dawson, Bailey Packer, Jander Santos and Shay Williams also getting on the score sheet, with two own goals completing the goal tally. Swindon Supermarine are back one point ahead of Calne Town but having played one game more than their main title rivals.
