The weather once again played havoc with the fixtures in the Under 18 Floodlight Division of the Corsham Print Wiltshire Senior League this week with just the game getting the go ahead. The one game played was at Green Lane on Monday night and it saw Swindon Supermarine extend their lead at the top of the table to five points with a 3-1 away win over Devizes Town. On target for the league leaders were Xavier Beczak, Kacper Mielewczuk and Bailey Packer with his fifth of the season, a second of the season from Ollie Charles in reply for Devizes Town. Whilst Supermarine have a five-point lead at the top second placed Calne Town in second spot have two games in hand with the two sides set to meet at Bremhill View next Thursday in a game that could go a long way to deciding the destination of the title this season.
All the other scheduled games this week were postponed. Unfortunately, this week’s postponements included once again the Somerset County Youth Cup game between Radstock Town and Bridgwater Town with the game possibly being scheduled for next Thursday meaning it would then not impact Radstock’s League game scheduled for Monday night at Devizes.
With so many games being postponed in the first few weeks of the calendar year the League Cup may yet have to be pushed back to later in the season to ensure league games get played. The Under 18 Floodlight Division now has the worst postponement record of any of the seven divisions with 36.4% of the games that have been scheduled being postponed by clubs.
