Premier Division

Frustratingly there were once again games postponed in the Ladies Premier Division as Barford Hornets failed to raise a side for the sixth time this season and Swindon Supermarine also were unable to raise a side for the second time this season against one of the stronger sides in the division, this despite having 31 players registered. At Thursday’s Discipline Meeting, with the seaosn now in its final month, it was agreed that no further fixtures would be scheduled for Barford Hornets, as they are just wasting everybody’s time and causing massive frustration with their scheduled opponents each week, and their record will be expunged in due course.

The two games that did get played saw FC Abbey Meads close the gap to the top two with a 4-1 win away at Westbury Ladies with both Michelle Rich and Millie Swift scoring twice for the visitors, Alice Bevan getting the Westbury goal.

Melksham Town returned to winning ways with an 11-1 home success over struggling Highworth Town. Andrea Chlidilova led the way scoring four of the Melksham goals, India Mulliss hit a hat-trick, Lily Bateman scored twice with Isabella Green and Sarah Ward getting the other two goals.

Alan and Barbara Swan were again at the Westbury Ladies v FC Abbey Meads game with their cameras and more of their pictures can be found on the League Facebook Group Page.

Division One

No such problems in Division One where all five scheduled games once again got played. With Salisbury Ladies without a game FC Chippenham had the chance to move top of the table on goal difference with a win over Ferndale Rodbourne. They did just that as hat-tricks from Lily Ayhan and Ella Johnson helped them to a big 11-0 win, improving their goal difference further. The other goals came through Ella Johnson and Amy Totterdell, who both scored twice, and Tyler Webb.

When Marlborough Town Reserves and Malmesbury Vics had met at the start of the season, Malmesbury had edged a close nine-goal game by the odd goal. There were again plenty of goals again in the return fixture, but this time Marlborough continued their recent good form winning 8-2. Kitty Bevan led the way scoring a hat-trick to move onto 20 goals in the Division for the season, with Daisy Cox also taking her total to 20 with a brace, the other three Marlborough goals coming from Phoebe Smith, Philippa Wain and Rhianon Williams, Alice Allman and Laura Deacon with the Malmesbury goals.  Results elsewhere meant that despite the defeat Malmesbury remained in third spot.

Blunsdon were unable to take advantage of that Malmesbury loss as they fell to a 2-0 home defeat at the hands of Staverton Rangers, Hollie-Mai Greenland with both Staverton goals.

Bishops Cannings recorded their ninth win of the season with a 4-1 home success over Durrington. Lily Taylor scored twice for the home side with further goals from Georgia Brown and Lucy-Anne Skinner, Lauren Baggot with the Durrington reply from the penalty spot.

Purton Kingsdown Reserves registered their second win of the season s two goals from Lorna Newton gave them a 2-1 win away at Stratton, with Katy Farr getting the Stratton goal.

League Cup Update and Premier Division Fixture Changes

Following the League Discipline Meeting on Thursday night it was found that Keynsham Town had fielded an ineligible player in their cup semi-final win over Melksham Town and the game has been awarded to Melksham Town who will now contest the final against FC Abbey Meads on Sunday 12th April. Changes have also consequently had to be made to the remaining fixtures in the Ladies Premier Division as a result of this and also the Barford Hornets situation.
