Letcombe Finish 5th After Final Game,

Bishops Cannings Confirmed Div 1 R-up

This season's honours winners in the Premier Division & Division One of the Corsham Print Wiltshire Senior League

Premier Division

The final Saturday of the league season in the men’s Premier Division and Division 1 of the Corsham Print Wiltshire Senior League saw just two games in both divisions to complete the season’s league fixtures.

In the Premier Division, with honours already decided, the only thing left to be confirmed was the battle for fifth place between Letcombe and Melksham Town Res. Letcombe were home to Pewsey Vale in what was Luke Stone’s final game in charge. It was to prove to be a winning end to his tenure as manager as goals from Kyle Cross and Oscar Griffiths gave Letcombe a 2-1 home win, Finn Kiddle with the Pewsey Vale goal. The win for Letcombe confirmed they would finish in fifth spot in the table just two points behind fourth place Shrivenham, with Pewsey Vale finishing in seventh place. Unfortunately, for now it will be Letcombe's last game in the Premier Division of the Corsham Print Wiltshire Senior League as, after two successful seasons, with Stone leaving and a lot of the squad also departing, they have notified the league that they will be withdrawing with the 2025-26 Season concluded.

Whilst Melksham Town Reserves were playing their final league game of the season, they still have one more game to go with their involvement in next Saturday’s Fountain Trophies Cup Final against Larkhall Athletic Development. They warmed up for that cup final with an emphatic win away at Down Ampney in their final league game. Down Ampney had secured their Premier Division status last week but in their final game of the season they found Melksham Town Reserves too hot to handle as Melksham secured a big 8-3 away win to end their league season on a winning note. Jack Smith, their mid-season capture from Calne Town Reserves, led the way scoring four of the Melksham goals, Tom Dowell bagged a brace and there were further goals for Liam Brooks and Kieran Higdon. The three goals in reply for Down Ampney were scored by Jake Collis, Harvey Coster and Sam Dibble. With Letcombe winning, despite the victory, Melksham had to settle for a sixth-place finish, a point behind Letcombe.

Division One

In Division 1, Bradford Town Reserves were predictably unable to overturn a 24-goal deficit needed to pip Bishop's Cannings for runners-up spot, but they did move level on points with them  with a come from behind win over Kintbury Rangers Reserves. Trailing 2-1 at the break, goals from Steven Johnson, Wiktor Wnuk and Lewis Bridgman turned things around in the second half as Bradford Town Reserves ran out 4-2 winners, Joe Rendle with the first half goal for the home side. Congratulations to Bishops Cannings on finishing as runners-up and they will be joined in the Premier Division next season by both Fairford Town Reserves and Bradford Town Reserves.

Shrivenham Development ended their season with a 3-1 home win over Redhouse thanks to goals from Josh Seller, Kai Richardson and Lewis Mokler, Jack Duffy with the Redhouse reply. The win for Shrivenham saw them move above both their beaten opponents and Purton Kingsdown Reserves to finish in sixth place in the table. Conclusion of League Season

That's the end of league fixtures for another season and a big thank you to all the club secretaries and managers for their co-operation in getting the fixtures completed in the two men’s divisions without the need to have excessive midweek fixtures at the end of the season.

It is not quite the end of football as next Saturday sees the final of the Fountain Trophies Senior Cup where Larkhall Athletic Dev will face Melksham Town Res at Devizes Town FC with a 3:00pm kick-off.
