Club History
Faringdon Town Football Club was officially founded in 1906 when it was accepted by the Berks & Bucks Football Association, to enter its competitions; however historical records shows that football was being played in the town during the late 1800’s. The club's first competition victory came in 1908/1909 season when Town lifted the North Berks Cup when we beat Radley 3-0 at Abingdon Town in front of nearly 1000 spectators!
In 1909, the North Berks League was set up, which had four area divisions in Abingdon, Wallingford, Wantage & Faringdon. However, it wasn’t until the 1931/1932 season that Faringdon were crowned league champions, with a record of 8 wins, 4 draws and 2 defeats from 14 matches played, with 37 goals scored and 20 conceded, finishing one point ahead of MG Sports.
To celebrate the clubs centenary in 2006, a number of events were held including a football match against the North Berks Football League, a presentation certificate by The FA and a celebration dinner with 300 guests, held at Tucker Park.
Over the years Town have challenged for many trophies but have often fallen at the final hurdle, however the records show that the club have won all of the North Berks competitions, during theirr existence, with one of the most successful seasons being the 2009/2010 season with the club winning the inaugural North Berks Centenary Cup, North Berks Charity Shield and the Faringdon Thursday Memorial Cup.

With the youth section becoming integrated into the main football club along with Charter Standard accreditation, the future of Faringdon Town Football Club is very positive. The club are hoping to progress further with improvements to the changing facilities and our Five Year Plan.
Faringdon's first season in the Corsham Print Wiltshire Senior League woud prove to be a successful one. Leading Division One for much of the season they eventually had to settle for second place in the table, two points behind champions Park United. They also made the Quarter Final of the Fountain Trophies Cup, where they were knocked out by the cup holders Larkhall Athletic Development but had the honour of being the Division One side who went furthest in the competition.
Season 2024-25, the first in the Premier Division was to prove to be a difficult one for Faringdon Town and their tenure in the Premier Division looked like it would last for just the one season for now. At home their record was decent with seven victories and one draw from their 16 fixtures. It was their failure to win on the road in any of their 16 away games was what potentially cost them their place in the Premier Division come the end of the season, picking up just three points from those 16 away games. However, Salisbury’s folding of their development side offered Faringdon a reprieve which they accepted and they are set to feature in the Premier Division again in Season 2025-26.
