Club History
Kintbury Rangers were formed in 1890 and had a very successful team between the two World Wars, winning Division One of the Newbury & District League on four occasions in the early 1930’s. During the time of the Second World War the village team continued to play friendly matches against local army and RAF camps and the prisoner of war camp on the outskirts of the village. As the war progressed the American Forces took over the use of the ground for baseball matches.

The club reformed in 1943 and after the Second World War re-joined the Newbury & District League and quickly became one of the leading clubs in West Berkshire, going on to win the Premier Division of the league in the 1958–59 campaign. The club joined the North Berks Football League Premier Division in the 1967–68 season, entering both a first team and a reserve side in the league. The first team stayed in the Premier Division for three seasons before suffering relegation at the end of the 1969–70 season, and a subsequent relegation the following season to Division Two.

Season 1972-73 was to be a good season for Kintbury as the first team won the North Berks League Cup whilst the Reserves were champions of Division 3 of the North Berks. Season 1976-77, when what is now the Wiltshire Senior League came into existence, Kintbury Rangers Reserves were back in Division 5 of the North Berks League but had a good season finishing as runners-up and achieving promotion to Division 4. They were to remain in Division 4 for just three seasons, after two seventh place finishes in Season 1979-80 they took the Division 4 title and promotion to Division 3. Two seasons later there was more success as a second-place finish saw them promoted to Division 2, just one division below their first team.

Season 1983–84, saw Kintbury first team join the Hellenic Football League for the first time. This elevation in status seemed to have a negative as they finished bottom of Division 2 and suffered relegation. After a reasonably successful season back in Division 3 that saw them finish in fourth place in Season 1984-85 a decision was taken to also take the reserve side into the Hellenic League reserves division. It appears the reserve team remained within the reserve divisions of the Hellenic League, which changed format from one season to the next, for 14 seasons during Kintbury Rangers first spell in the Hellenic League. Unfortunately, it has only been possible to trace league tables for three of those seasons at the start of the 1990s (not even the Hellenic Leagues’ own history book has the reserve division league tables in it).

Kintbury Rangers Reserves were back in the North Berks League as the new millennium commenced starting back in Division 4 of that league. A fifth-place finish in Season 1999-200 was bettered the following season when a runners-up spot saw Kintbury Rangers promoted to Division 3. The upward trajectory continued; a third-place finish was quickly followed by another title success in Season 2002-03 that saw Kintbury Rangers promoted to Division 2 of the North Berks League. Kintbury Rangers Reserves would remain in Division 2 until the end of Season 2005-06 when they opted to follow their first team back into the Hellenic League, entering what Hellenic League Division 2 East. The second season in this new division saw them finish runners-up to Chalfont Wasps Reserves, Kintbury finishing level on points with both Ascot United Reserves and Englefield Green Rovers Reserves but taking runners-up spot by reason of a superior goal difference. Kintbury Reserves were to spend just one more season in the Hellenic before returning to the North Berks League playing in Division 3. Four seasons of mid-table finishes were followed by another season of honours in Season 2013-14, when they secured yet another runners-up finish and elevation to Division 2.

Kintbury Rangers Reserves continued to have success at the higher level and twice finished as runners-up in Division 2 in Seasons 2015-16 and 2017-18. After this latter successful season, they elected to play in the Swindon & District League and secured another runners-up spot in their first season in the Swindon based league but frustrated by restrictions concerning player eligibility they elected to re-join the Hellenic League for Season 2019-20.

Again, it was to be just one season in Hellenic League Division 2 West, and not even that with the season being curtailed due to Covid. The following season they were back in the North Berks League playing in Division 2 of that league. Again Season 2021-22 suffered a curtailment due to Covid with Kintbury Rangers sitting in fifth place at the time the season was brought to a premature end.  Season 2021-22 was thankfully completed after the two Covid impacted seasons and it saw Kintbury Rangers second side, now rebranded as a development side, finish in fifth spot winning half of their 16 league games and drawing three. Season 2022-23 saw them join their first team in playing in the Wiltshire Senior League, this being the first time that a Kintbury Reserves or Development side had played in the Wiltshire Senior League. However, they were forced to withdraw part way through the season following the departure of the First Team manager and a number of players. Season 2023-24 sees them return with a new First Team manager installed and an influx of new players to the club.
