Ladies Premier Division
With it being the start of School Half Term in Wiltshire there were just two games played on Sunday across the two Ladies divisions of the Corsham Print Wiltshire Senior League, with both games being in the Premier Division and were games that had been postponed earlier in the season. The two games saw both Marlborough Town and Keynsham Town “A” maintain their perfect record in league games played although Keynsham Town “A” are still yet to have their postponement against Swindon Supermarine reviewed by the Discipline Committee.
Marlborough Town made it six straight wins to start the season following last season’s promotion with a 6-2 away win over Barford Hornets. There were two goals for both Daisy Cox and Izzy Kirwan with Lily Wain and Rhiannon Williams getting the other two goals for Marlborough in their latest win. The two goals in reply for Barford Hornets were scored by Maelin Hayes and Emily Palmer.
Keynsham Town “A” also had a comfortable away win at Trowbridge Wanderers scoring seven unanswered goals to move second in the table. Tilly Welsford led the way scoring four times, Lola Kondorosi scored twice with Rose Thompson taking her tally for the season to five with the other Keynsham goal. Barbara and Alan Swan were at the game with their cameras and more of their excellent pictures can be found on the League Facebook Group page.
There is set to be a full programme of games in both divisions this coming Sunday. In the Premier Division league leaders Marlborough Town will have their perfect record severely tested when they travel into Swindon to play FC Abbey Meads on the 3G at Moredon. Second in the table Keynsham Town “A” will be at home against another Swindon based side, with Purton Kingsdown their visitors. The big game at the bottom end of the table sees Trowbridge Wanderers host Swindon Supermarine. The two other games in the Premier Division see Calne Town host near neighbours Melksham Town and Highworth Town entertain Barford Hornets.
In Division One league leaders Salisbury will look to maintain their lead at the top, and their perfect record to date in the league, when they entertain Staverton Rangers. The big game of the day sees second in the table Malmesbury Vics up against third place FC Chippenham who are another side yet to drop points in the league so far this season. With Bishops Cannings the side without a game this weekend, fifth placed Marlborough Town Reserves will look to reduce the gap to Bishops Cannings when they play Ferndale Rodbourne. The big game at the bottom of the table sees Stratton at home to Durrington with Durrington looking to get their first win of the season, whilst Stratton will be hoping to register their second victory of the season. The final game of the week is a local derby with Blunsdon making the journey across the other side of the A419 to take on Purton Kingsdown Reserves.
