There were just four games played last week in the U18 Floodlight Division of the Corsham Print Wiltshire Senior League. On Monday night Calne Town’s title ambitions suffered a setback when they lost heavily away at Wims 11. Two goals from Billy Wimble and one apiece from Omaree Cox, Noah Gray, Rudy Durans, Riyad Kamaly and Masood Garder saw Wims II win 7-1, to inflict on Calne Town their heaviest defeat of the season in the league. Despite the defeat have still dropped the least number of points so far this season but with three games left to play they still trail Swindon Supermarine by five points, with Supermarine having just the one game still to play.
The same night Melksham Town picked up their eleventh league win of the season with a 2-0 away success at Trowbridge Town thanks to goals from Kieran Higdon and Billy Burton. Having won the earlier fixture against the same opponents 12-1 shows how much Trowbridge Town have improved in the second half of the season which bodes well for next season.
The third game played on Monday night was at Westbury United where the home side picked up only their second victory of the season, a 2-1 win over Amesbury Town.
There was then one game played on Thursday night with the second semi-final in the U18 League Cup and it proved to be a good week for Wims 11 as they followed that big win over Calne Town on Monday night with a 3-1 win over Radstock Town. The two teams turned around all square at the break at 1-1 but two unanswered second half goals for Wims 11 mean it is they who will be in the final. The planned date for the final is Thursday 7th May at Devizes Town, but it may need to be delayed if the investigations by the Berks & Bucks FA into issues with the earlier semi-final are not concluded quickly.
