Calne Go Top With Two Wins,

Wims 11 & Gillingham Also Win Twice

It was a busy week in the U18 Floodlight Division of the Corsham Print Wiltshire Senior League with seven games played.

It would prove to be a good week for Calne Town who won twice in the week to move top of the table with one game to play, a home fixture this coming Thursday against bottom of the table Trowbridge Town where a win will see them crowned as champions. They set up that scenario with a 7-0 win away at Radstock Town on the Monday night which they then followed up on Thursday with a narrow 2-1 home win over Melksham Town. On the Monday night two goals from both Charlie Hancock and Ruben Allaway plus further strikes from Alexander Greenouff, Lawson Mears and Archie Snoddy did the damage for Calne. On Thursday evening Calne scored one of the quickest goals you will ever see to go 1-0 up against Melksham Town but Oscar Hall levelled matters up for Melksham. Just as it looked like it would be two points dropped Calne scored a late winner to take the three points and move top of the table with that one game to play. On target for Calne were Charlie Hancock, for what was his third goal of the week, and Kieran Kennedy.

It was also to prove to be a good week for Wims 11 and Billy Wimble in particular. On the Tuesday evening Wimble scored six times for Wims in their 7-0 victory over Amesbury Town, Harry Bekoe with the other goal. Wims then followed that up on Thursday night with another seven-goal result, defeating Trowbridge Town 7-1 away at Woodmarsh. There were another four goals for Billy Wimble, Omaree Cox bagged a brace with Nathan Nikoi-Appoh getting the other Wims goal, Jack Amor with the consolation goal for Trowbridge Town.

Another side winning two games in the week were Gillingham Town. On Monday night they registered a 5-1 home win over Melksham Town with leading scorer Thomas Gaylard scoring twice with the other goals coming through Lewis Pack, Robert Hollick and Lucas Prescod-Toogood, Theo Griffiths with the Melksham Town goal. They followed this up on Thursday night with another home win, defeating Westbury United 4-0.

The final game played in the week saw Amesbury Town win 3-0 away at Radstock Town.
